Goodluck India announced today that a INR 74 crore ($10-11 million) investment in a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat, which was expected to be commissioned by April 2018, has started commercial pipe production at the plant this month. The company initially announced the investment in April 2017, stating the plant would have a capacity of approximately 72,000 mt annually. The firm was formerly known as Good Luck Steel Tubes Ltd, a producer of steel tubes, pipes and precision tubes.

The company’s existing manufacturing facility at Sikandrabad (Uttar Pradesh) was running at capacity at the time with 230,000 mt annual production. The new facility will take the company’s total production capacity to 302,000 mt annually.

The location of the facility is close to the ports of Kandla and Mundra. The company noted it as strategically significant to reduce freight costs for exports. Exports accounted for about 27 percent of the company's total revenue in FY16.
