In March this year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 4.03 million metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.1 percent year on year and rising by 9.17 percent as compared to the previous month, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year Germany's crude steel production reached 11.39 million metric tons, up by 4.2 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year, reaching the highest level since summer 2008. In line with the significant increase in orders and the rising trend observed in key steel using industries, Germany's crude steel production is expected to be very strong in the second quarter of this year, WV Stahl said.

On the other hand, in February this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.22 million metric tons, up by 8.6 percent, including 2.16 million metric tons of flat steel products - up eight percent, and 1.6 million metric tons of long steel products - up 9.9 percent, all compared to February 2010.
