Sao Paulo, Brazil-based Gerdau Monday announced that its operations in Chile were back at full capacity after the February 27 earthquake.  The company, Latin America's largest steelmaker, reopened the last of its plants that were closed following the quake, which seriously damaged several towns and wrecked major infrastructure.

Gerdau's Chilean operations have an annual output capacity of 520,000 metric tons (mt), and they should recover their normal monthly output levels of 40,000 mt in May.
