The government of the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu has distributed financial grants totaling RMB 59.77 million to local enterprises in order to support their elimination of backward production capacities. The 35 enterprises benefiting from the grants operate in the areas of non-ferrous metals, metallurgy, petroleum, chemicals and building materials.

This grant scheme is being implemented according to regulations established by China's Ministry of Finance, and is intended to support enterprises in their efforts to eliminate out-of-date production capacities on schedule. The Gansu government verifies the usage of grants by sending an inspection group or by commissioning local departments to do this work.
