On October 31st, China's first domestically-produced H-beam production line commenced trial production at Hebei Province-based Xinghua Steel & Iron Co., Ltd.

Up to now China has had a total of eight H-beam production lines, with key equipment supplied mainly by overseas manufacturers. However, Xinghua's production line uses only domestically-supplied equipment. With an investment of RMB 650 million ($87 million) and an annual capacity of one million mt, this project is one of three key high-end steel construction projects carried out in 2007 in the Handan region of Hebei Province.
