Following the meeting between trade union representatives and Italy's Ministry of Economical Development, Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri's CEO Giuseppe Bono has announced the withdrawal of the company's reorganization plan which would have caused more than 2,550 workers to lose their jobs.

In an interview with Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr. Bono stated, "The plan we announced was well known to everyone. Although I always take charge of any decision in the group, the strong complaints that came from various quarters have led me to withdraw the reorganization program." Meanwhile, Italy's Minister of Economical Development Paolo Romani has commented positively the withdrawal of the plan, saying that now all the sides involved will have to meet in order to safeguard jobs and reach the best solution.
