EU-27 steel imports soar in January-August

According to the European steel association EUROFER, in the month of August European Union (EU-27) flat steel imports reached 1.294 million mt, while EU-27 long steel imports amounted to 239,000 mt. Accordingly, overall EU-27 steel imports in August totaled 1.533 million mt, down 15.16 percent from July:

In the first eight months of the current year, total EU-27 steel imports amounted to 14.782 million mt, rising by 43.44 percent compared to the same period of 2010:
