According to the European Steel Association (EUROFER), in May this year flat steel exports from the European Union (EU-27) totaled 1.33 million mt, while long steel exports amounted to 1.084 million mt. Accordingly, overall EU-27 steel exports in May reached 2.414 million mt, up 15.83 percent month on month and increasing by 13.12 percent year on year. The May figure is the highest monthly export total recorded so far in 2012.

Meanwhile, in the first five months this year steel exports from the EU-27 totaled 10.902 million mt, up 7.73 percent year on year.
