Erdemir is on standby prior to a price increase

There are rumours in the Eregli market recently that Erdemir is expected to effect a price increase in the near future. According to these rumours, despite its wish to make a price increase within the shortest possible time, Erdemir is now waiting before taking action, due to a warning made by the government to take such plan on standby. In line with these speculations, it is believed that Erdemir is also willing to wait for a while, taking into consideration that a slow down of sales will be observed because of the oncoming Ramadan. As already acknowledged, Erdemir is going to take first quarter orders for 2004 until November 20, 2003. On the other hand, Erdemir invited trading firms to submit bids for export purposes on December delivery basis. Accordingly, the deadline for trading firms to submit their requests to Erdemir is October 20, 2003.
