China's steel exports exceed 4.4 million mt in June

SteelOrbis Shanghai The General Administration of Customs indicated that China's steel exports for June totaled 4.43 million mt, up 102 percent over the same period last year and up 26.5 percent month on month, while imports totaled 1.67 million mt, down 33.4 percent year on year and up 15.1 percent month on month. So, China's net steel exports in June reached 2.76 million mt, up 35.96 percent month on month. From January to June, the cumulative steel exports totaled 17.1 million mt, up 47.7 percent year on year, and the cumulative steel imports totaled 9.41 million mt, down 28.8 percent, resulting in 7.68 million mt cumulative net exports from January to June. The exports of semi finished steel in June still maintained the rapid growth. The semis exports totaled 1.04 million mt, up 82.45 percent year on year and up 52.9 percent month on month, and the imports totaled 40,000 mt, down 66.6 percent year on year, equaling to the level of May. The net exports of semi finished steel in June totaled 1 million mt. From January to June, the cumulative exports of semi finished steel totaled 3.1 million mt, down 35.6 percent year on year, and the cumulative imports totaled 210,000 mt, down 72.5 percent year on year, resulting in 2.89 million mt net semis exports from January to June. The cumulative net exports of semis and steel totaled 10.57 million mt from January to June, equal to 11.24 million mt crude steel.
