In August 2009, China's iron ore imports totaled 49.68 million mt, down 8.4 million mt or 14.5 percent month on month and up 12.28 million mt or 32.8 percent year on year. From January to August, iron ore imports came to 404.9 million mt, up 97.93 million mt or 31.9 percent compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, China's coke exports in August reached 40,000 mt, down 1.37 million mt or 97.2 percent year on year. From January to August, the country's total coke exports amounted to 320,000 mt, down 9.36 million mt or 96.7 percent year on year.
