China’s imports of auto, steel down

Based on the data released by the China's General Administration of Customs, the country's import volume of vehicles and steel products showed a decline in the first half of the year. On the other hand, imports of coal and iron ore posted a rapid growth in the aforementioned period. In the first six months of the year, China's vehicle imports fell 33.6 percent year on year to 64'000 units, while steel imports decreased 26.5 percent to 13.2 million tons. Besides, more than 12.09 million tons of coal was imported, up 56.1 percent from a year earlier, while 130 million tons of iron ore was imported, an increase of 34.3 percent.
