China’s foreign investment supports economy

An official from the Ministry of Commerce indicated that China's foreign investment has played a major role in promoting country's economic development in recent years. In 2004, the shares of investment in fixed asset accounted for around 12 percent of the total, industrial output 28 percent and export volume of foreign invested enterprises 57 percent. According to the official, foreign invested enterprises created an employment opportunity for around 24 million people, accounting for 10 percent of China's non-agricultural labor force.
