In April this year, excavator sales in China increased to 45,426 units, up 59.9 percent year on year, exceeding 40,000 units for the second month in a row, as announced by the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA). In the January-April period of the year, excavator sales in China amounted to 114,000 units, up 10.5 percent year on year.

In the current year up to May 28, in China 2,800 new companies (producers of excavators and parts, dealers) have been set up in the excavator business, reflecting the booming market.

Market analysts have forecast that excavator sales in China will likely increase by 50 percent year on year in May, while their expectation for the growth of sales in 2020 has increased from 10 percent to 15-20 percent.

In April, a lot of excavator producers increased their sales prices by 5-10 percent, while excavators were still in short supply due to the speeding-up in infrastructure construction amid the effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic in China.
