China's 2006 GDP expected to rise 9%

SteelOrbis Shanghai Qiu Xiaohua, new head of the National Statistics Bureau, stated that China's 2006 GDP is expected to increase 9 percent. The figure is 1 percent higher the government's plan. The average growth rate foreseen in the 11th Five Year Plan is 10.1 percent; varying between 8.5 percent and 13 percent among various provinces and citites. China's GDP had grown 9.9 percent year on year and its GDP per capita was $1,700 in 2005. According to Qiu, apart from the rapidly growing economy, China should solve the problem of resource utilization and environmental pollution to maintain a stable development.
