China supplies wire rod to the US market

Although there are reports that the long product prices are bouncing up again, China still appears to be the price leader of mesh making wire rod imports to the US. Current offers ranging from $450 /mt to $470 /mt CFR for the US Gulf ports. In the last couple of years, Chinese wire rod mills became eligible offering products suitable to the US market now with five mills regularly exporting here. Except for the long transportation periods of around 60 days to US Gulf and certain limitations of sizes and grades most Chinese mills can produce suitable wire rods for mesh quality applications.
