China sees increases in PPI, CPI

China's National Bureau of Statistics said that the country's producer price index (PPI) and consumer price index (CPI) rose 5.8% year-on-year and 3.9% year-on-year in February 2005 respectively. According to the report, the prices for crude oil and oil products saw an obvious increase in February. The crude oil price rose 22.4% year-on-year, leading the overall PPI up 0.7 percentage points. Prices of coal products jumped 26.5% year-on-year, while the purchase price of raw materials, fuel and power rose 9.8% year-on-year. Urban CPI rose 3.6% year-on-year in February, and rural CPI was up 4.5%.
