China allows 2.9 million tons of coke to be exported to Japan

Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) has recently announced that it will allow 2.9 million tons of coke to be exported to Japan for year 2004. It is stated that the amount of coke that is allowed to be exported to Japan in 2004 is the same that was allowed in 2003. The amount of coke that was allowed to be exported to Japan was 2.3 million tons in 2002. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, Chinese government had restricted coke exports however upon the objections of EU, it agreed to allow 4.5 million tons of coke to be exported to EU. Moreover Japanese government had also warned Chinese government several times about the restrictions it implemented on coke exports.
