Siemens VAI Metals Technology has announced the receipt of an order from Thailand-based steel producer Canadoil Plate for the supply a new five-meter plate mill.
Under the scope of the order, Siemens will supply a high pressure descaler, a finishing mill stand with a maximum rolling force of 10,000 mt, comprising a hydraulic roll gap control system and a SmartCrown work roll bending and shifting system. In addition, the company will supply a Multic intensive cooling system with a pre-leveler, a hot plate leveler, a shearing line and a cold leveler, as well as the electrical equipment and the automation system.
The new heavy plate mill will mainly produce plates for the manufacture of high grade pipes, pressure vessels and structural steels for the energy sectors. The new mill is scheduled to start operating in 2010 and will be able to roll finished widths of up to 4.9 meters.
The value of the order is a three-digit million euro figure.
