Freight logistics company MRS said on Tuesday a railway it operates in Minas Gerais state to transport iron ore and steel has not been affected by Vale’s iron ore dam burst, which caused 84 fatalities reported so far.

MRS said its material losses were limited to two damaged locomotives and 138 wagons, which were hit at Vale’s Feijão mine in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais state, during a deadly iron ore dam burst on Friday.

“Our railway network hasn’t been hit,” MRS said in a statement, adding that only a section of the railway connected to the Vale’s site in Brumadinho was compromised.

“Railway operations are being resumed gradually,” MRS said.
