BHP to hold board meeting in China
Australian coal producer BHP Billiton announced that the company's board of directors would hold its June meeting in Beijing, China in order to have a first-hand look into issues affecting the company's Chinese customers. This will be the first time the board of BHP Billiton meets in China. The company stated that the meeting in Beijing would also bring opportunities on improving relations with the existing customers and obtaining new customers, because the directors would meet with customers, government representatives, community leaders and BHP Billiton employees in China. The governments control on iron ore imports has led to an increase in the share of Australian and Brazilian iron ore producers in the Chinese market.
