BHP Billiton donates $500,000 to quake-hit China

On May 15, BHP Billiton announced a donation of $500,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to provide urgent help and humanitarian aid to China's earthquake-hit Sichuan Province.

Marius Kloppers, CEO of BHP Billiton, expressed his deep sympathy and concern for the earthquake victims on behalf of all the staff at BHP Billiton.

In 2005, BHP Billiton became the official diversified minerals and medals sponsor for the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics and, as such, will provide funding support and raw materials for manufacture of medals for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics.
