Baosteel’s new stainless capacity in operation

China's Baoshan Iron and Steel Group (Baosteel) announced the completion of its 1.5 million tons per annum stainless capacity expansion project. The project lasted for 16 months and started opeartion on June 28. The stainless expansion project includes a 100-ton capacity electric furnace, a 120-ton converter, a 120-ton refinery and a continuous caster. The company plans to employ most of the new 1.5 million tons stainless capacity for the domestic market.
