Assofermet: Scrap prices slightly increase in late February in Italy

Global scrap prices decreased during the first half of February, then followed a stable trend for the rest of the month, according to Assofermet, the Italian association of traders of iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, ferrous scrap, hardware and similar goods. The price trend in the Italian market was the same, scrap prices slowed down in the first half of the month then saw slight increase in the second half.

Regarding pig iron, the Assofermet reports decent supplies and stable prices, however the prices are likely to see an increase due to the recovery in iron ore prices.  The report indicated decent supplies and stable prices for ferroalloys as well.

Meanwhile, Assofermet also issued steel product and steelmaking raw material import volumes for Port Marghera, Venice during the month of January. The details are as follows:
