Arfa Steel’s new production facilities to be completed in March-April 2011

"Construction of the Arfa Steel plant will be completed by March-April 2011," Ahmad Kayvanara, managing director of Iranian steelmaker Arfa Iron and Steel Co., stated recently. "All of the equipment is to be delivered by suppliers to the plant site by June 2010 by according to our agreement," he added.
 
Arfa Iron and Steel's project comprises one iron-making plant and one steelmaking plant each with an annual capacity of 800,000mt. The steel plant is being constructed by Chinese contractor MCC while the Midrex direct reduced iron-making plant is being built by Iranian contractors Iritek and Irasco. The steelmaking plant is reported to be about 48 percent completed, with the DRI plant about 57 percent finished.

The investment cost for the whole project is estimated at about $420 million. The project is located at Ardakan city in the central province of Yazd, close to the Ardakan pelletizing plant.
