ArcelorMittal Temirtau starts hot tests on continuous casting machine

ArcelorMittal Temirtau, the largest metallurgical enterprise in Kazakhstan and a subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has started hot tests on its new continuous casting machine (CCM).

The supplier of the six-strand continuous casting machine with a capacity of 1.2 million mt per year is Turkish company CVS. Work on the project commenced in August 2010. ArcelorMittal Temirtau plans to launch production with the casting machine by the end of the current year. Accordingly, the steelmaker's annual steel production capacity will increase by 25 percent to 5 million mt.
