ArcelorMittal idled its coke production plant in Monessen, Pennsylvania at the end of June, according to local news reports.

About 180 employees work at the plant, and news reports cite the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the steel industry as the reason for the idling. The company did not offer a timeline as to when the plant will go back into production.

The Monessen coke plant has an annual production capacity of 370,000 tons.
