Chinese tube producer Anhui Tianda Oil Pipe Co. Ltd has ordered a new seamless tube plant from German plantmaker SMS Meer.

The new plant will employ the PQF® (Premium Quality Finishing) technology developed by SMS Meer and will have an annual capacity of 500,000 mt of seamless tubes. The maximum tube diameter will be 9 5/8 inches. The plant is planned to be commissioned in 2009.

With this new plant, Anhui Tianda Oil Pipe will be able to roll tubes with thin walls within very close tolerances. In addition, material and energy consumption during production will decrease and higher grades of material will be rolled with a greater flexibility in rollable dimensions.
