1.1 billion mt of iron ore reserves found in Xinjiang

In the Xinjiang ‘358' project initiated by the Chinese government two years ago for the exploration of mineral resources in the China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, a total of 335.7 billion mt of coal reserves, 1.1 billion mt of iron ore reserves and 5.6 million mt of lead/zinc reserves and 1.16 million mt of copper/nickel reserves have been discovered.

Investments spent on this project in the region of Xinjiang have to date exceeded RMB 2.3 billion, with 11 main mineral-rich areas being explored.
