Turkey's motor vehicle output rises third month in a row in March

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in March this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 98,533 units, increasing by 67.3 percent year on year and up by 16.66 percent over the month of February. Thus, the country's motor vehicle output has risen for the third consecutive month on month-on-month basis.
 
In March, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 55,755 units - up 50.2 percent, its commercial vehicle production reached 42,778 units - up 97 percent, while tractor production amounted to 2,387 units - up 150 percent, all compared to March 2009.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in March was 78 percent, up from 65 percent recorded in February.
 
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 263,743 units, up 81 percent year on year: passenger car output totaled 148,930 units, while commercial vehicle production reached 108,689 units, increasing respectively by 63 percent and 111 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
