Turkish motor vehicle sales up 4.9 percent in April

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in April this year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 57,102 units, increasing by 4.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and up 6.07 percent month on month, as a result of the revival in demand due to intensive sales campaigns by carmakers and relatively increased credit availability.

In the month in question, the country's passenger car sales amounted to 36,549 units, improving by one percent year on year and up by 7.6 percent month on month.

In April, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 60,835 units, rising by 35 percent year on year and down 21.13 percent over March. The revenue generated by motor vehicle exports surged by 26.3 percent, compared to April 2009, to $1.31 billion. In the given month, Turkey imported 31,807 motor vehicles, which is 8.4 percent higher compared to April 2009 and up 2.23 percent month on month.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Turkey's motor vehicle output in April totaled 89,817 units, increasing by 18.9 percent year on year and down by 8.85 percent over the month of March.
