Turkey's motor vehicle output down 8.58 percent in April over March

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in April this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 92,262 units, increasing by 21 percent year on year and down by 8.58 percent over the month of March. Thus, the country's motor vehicle output has seen its first month-on-month drop in 2010.
 
In April, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 51,459 units - up six percent, its commercial vehicle production reached 38,358 units - up 42 percent, while tractor production amounted to 2,445 units - up 154 percent, all compared to April 2009.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in April was 71 percent, down from 78 percent recorded in March.
 
Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 356,005 units, up 60 percent year on year: passenger car output totaled 200,389 units, while commercial vehicle production reached 147,047 units, increasing respectively by 43 percent and 88 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
