Although buyers and sellers within the US import hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil markets agree that activity and demand has not markedly changed in the past week, offshore producers are “hungry for orders”, with several mills dropping offers to the US. However, inventories remain high and there is still a significant amount of tonnage on the ground from earlier bookings that is “up for grabs,” according to sources, who don’t expect a flurry of buying activity in reaction to the decreases.
Meanwhile, trade case rumors continue to permeate the market, and trader sources say that at this point, they’re just waiting for the announcement to hit before they can get a more accurate read on the market.
