For the most part, prices for US import hot dipped galvanized (HDG) and Galvalume coil have started to exhibit signs of stability since our last report a week ago, although sources close to SteelOrbis continue to report that buyers continue to have the upper hand at the negotiation table.
Coated steel products are still the strongest segment within the US flats market, as demand within end-use market segments remain healthy. Trader sources also report that offshore producers, who continue to have “quite a bit of skin in the game” when it comes to market share, are thus willing to be flexible with their offer pricing and are willing to offer deals to anyone who is looking to book larger tonnages.
