Japan’s automobile output up 20.8 percent in August

Japan's automobile production in August this year was recorded at 690,689  units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents an increase of 118,916 units or 20.8 percent compared to the same month of 2009. August was the tenth consecutive month for which an increase on year-on-year basis was recorded.

Domestic sales in August stood at 424,986 vehicles, up 37.7 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports rose for the eighth month in a row in August this year compared to the corresponding month of 2009, totaling 337,163 units, up 61,977 units or 22.5 percent. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $9.45 billion, including $7.08 billion for vehicles and $2.84 billion for parts. This revenue indicates a rise of 31.4 percent as compared to August 2009.
