Japan's automobile
production in April this year was recorded at 731,794 units, according to the data provided by the
Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents an increase of 246,389 units or 50.8 percent compared to the same month of 2009. April was the sixth consecutive month for which an increase on year-on-year basis was recorded.
Domestic sales in April stood at 352,465 vehicles, up 24.1 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year, while the country's automobile exports rose for the fourth month in a row in April this year compared to the corresponding month of 2009, totaling 391,540 units, up 185,084 units or 89.6 percent. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $11.44 billion, including $8.1 billion for vehicles and $3.34 billion for parts. This revenue indicates a rise of 102.1 percent as compared to April 2009.
