Japanese automobile
production in June this year totaled 893,149 units, increasing by 150,618 units or 20.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The figure indicates a year-on-year rise for the ninth consecutive month, according to the data provided by the
Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

Japan in the first half of 2012 was recorded as 5,248,004 units, increasing by 1,817,970 units or 53 percent compared to the first half of the previous year.
Domestic sales in June this year in
Japan stood at 505,342 vehicles, up 43.6 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in June amounted to 431,020 units, up by 28,978 units or 7.2 percent compared to June 2011 and increasing compared to the same month of the previous year for the sixth consecutive month. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $14.1 billion, including $10.3 billion for vehicles and $3.9 billion for parts. This is an increase of $1.56 billion or 12.4 percent as compared with $12.6 billion recorded for the same month of the previous year.
Automobile exports for the first half of 2012 amounted to 2,487,975 units, increasing by 647,811 units or 35.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011. According to JAMA, the country's automobile exports switched to an increasing trend in 2012 after last year's downturn. The total value of automobiles exported in the first half of calendar year 2012 was $81.4 million including $59.4 million for vehicles and $22 million for parts. This is an increase of $22.4 million or 38 percent year-on-year.
