Japanese auto output climbs 45.8 percent in January-June

Japan's automobile production in the first half of this year was recorded at 4,841,950 units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents an increase of 1,520,522 units or 45.8 percent compared to the same period of 2009, after two years of downturn.
 
Domestic sales in the first half of this year stood at 2,656,828 vehicles, up 21.5 percent as compared with the first six months of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports in the January-June period of 2010 totaled 2,322,278 units, up 888,843 units or 62 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $66.19 billion, including $48.2 billion for vehicles and $17.99 billion for parts. This revenue indicates a rise of 80.7 percent as compared to H1 2009.
