Japanese auto output up 8.7% in H1, auto exports down 5%

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in June this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 857,317 units, increasing by 53,192 units or 6.6 percent compared to the same month of 2013, constituting the tenth consecutive increase on year-on-year basis.
 
Domestic automobile sales in June of the current year in Japan stood at 452,555 vehicles, up 0.4 percent as compared with the same month of 2013. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in June amounted to 390,915 units, down by 16,402 units or four percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, Japanese automobile production totaled 5,066,178 units, increasing by 405,134 units or 8.7 percent year on year. 
 
Domestic automobile sales in Japan in the first half of the current year stood at 3,005,806 vehicles, up 10.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in the given period amounted to 2,167,873 units, down by 114,481 units or five percent year on year.
