Japanese auto output up 3.4 percent in April

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 770,484 units, increasing by 25,164 units or 3.4 percent compared to the same month of 2013, constituting the eighth consecutive increase on year-on-year basis.
 
Domestic automobile sales in April of the current year in Japan stood at 345,226 vehicles, down 5.5 percent as compared with the same month of 2013. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in April amounted to 375,824 units, down by 21,303 units or 5.4 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, Japanese automobile production totaled 3,434,613 units, increasing by 307,386 units or 9.8 percent year on year. 
 
Domestic automobile sales in Japan in the January-April period of the current year stood at 2,189,883 vehicles, up 15.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in the given period amounted to 1,455,257 units, down by 63,758 units or 4.2 percent year on year.
