Japanese auto output up 14 percent in March

According to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in March this year Japanese automobile production (including passenger cars, trucks and buses) totaled 939,761 units, increasing by 115,647 units or 14.0 percent compared to the same month of 2013, constituting the seventh consecutive increase on year-on-year basis.
 
Domestic automobile sales in March of the current year in Japan stood at 783,389 vehicles, up 17.4 percent as compared with the same month of 2013. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in March amounted to 385,948 units, down by 2,182 units or 0.6 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, during the Japanese fiscal year (April 2013-March 2014), Japanese automobile production totaled 9,912,341 units, increasing by 361,458 units or 3.8 percent year on year, constituting the fourth consecutive increase since the 2010-11 fiscal year. 
 
Domestic automobile sales in Japan in the 2013-14 fiscal year stood at 5,692,167 vehicles, up 9.2 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. In the meantime, the country's automobile exports in the given year amounted to 4,632,178 units, down by 26,471 units or 0.6 percent year on year.
