Japanese auto output rises for fourth straight month in February

Japan's automobile production in February this year was recorded at 841,796 units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents an increase of 360,400 units or 74.9 percent compared to the same month of 2009. February was the fourth consecutive month for which an increase on year-on-year basis was recorded.
 
Domestic sales in February stood at 458,228 vehicles, up 20.4 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports rose for the second month in a row in February this year compared to the corresponding month of 2009, totaling 381,407 units, up 169,300 units or 79.8 percent. The revenue generated by these exports amounted to $10.92 billion, including $7,957.25 million for vehicles and $2,966.43 million for parts. This revenue indicates a rise of 115 percent as compared to February 2009.
