EU new car registrations up 5.7 percent in January-November

In the January-November period of the current year, new car registrations totaled 11,600,383 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 5.7 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). In November this year, EU new car registrations increased by 1.4 percent year on year to 953,886 units and were down 11.08 percent compared to October.

In the first 11 months of this year, Spain (+18.1 percent), the UK (+9.4 percent), Italy (+4.3 percent), Germany (+2.6 percent) and France (+1.1 percent) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in November Spain posted year-on-year growth in its new car registrations, up 17.4 percent, with the UK and Italy indicating increases of eight percent and five percent respectively, while new car registrations in Germany and France decreased by 1.8 percent and 2.7 percent respectively, all on year-on-year basis.
