In the first half of the current year, new car registrations totaled 6,622,996 units in the European Union (EU), with an increase of 6.5 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). In June this year, EU new car registrations increased by 4.5 percent year on year to 1,189,143 units and were up 8.8 percent compared to May.
In the first half of this year, the UK (+10.6 percent), Italy (+3.3 percent), France (+2.9 percent) and Germany (+2.4 percent) were the major EU markets which recorded increases in new car registrations on year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, in June most EU markets posted year-on-year growth in new car registrations, with the UK up 6.2 percent, Italy up 3.8 percent and France up 2.5 percent, while Germany indicated a decrease of 1.9 percent.
