Brazil’s motor vehicle output falls 11.4 percent in January

Brazil's motor vehicle output in January this year decreased by 19.2 percent from the previous month to 211,764 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Brazil's motor vehicle output was down by 11.4 percent in January from the same month last year.

According to the report, total new motor vehicle registrations in Brazil amounted to 268,273 units in January this year, decreasing 23 percent from December last year and up 9.6 percent year on year. 25.3 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in January this year totaled 33,075 units, with a 31.7 percent of decrease from the previous month and up 6.9 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports came to $1.16 billion, decreasing by 8.8 percent month on month and up 22.9 percent compared to the first month of 2011.
