Brazil's motor vehicle output in September this year decreased by 14.2 percent from the previous month to 282,500 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). The country's motor vehicle output increased by 8.2 percent in September over the same month last year. However, in the first nine months of this year Brazil's motor vehicle output decreased 5.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, amounting to 2.5 million units.
According to the report, total new motor vehicle registrations in Brazil amounted to 2.8 million units in the first nine months of this year, increasing four percent year on year. 21.4 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles.
Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in September this year totaled 27,194 units, falling by 36 percent compared to the previous month and down 40.3 percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, the country's motor vehicle exports decreased 18 percent to 322,548 units, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in September the revenue generated by motor vehicle exports fell to $1.15 billion, decreasing by 17.5 percent month on month and down 22.7 percent compared to the same month of 2011. In January-September, Brazilian motor vehicle exports totaled $11.25 billion in value, falling by 5.7 percent compared to the first nine months of the previous year.
