Iraq still the key export market for Turkish rebar

SteelOrbis is informed that ex-Turkey rebar offers have remained in the range of $590-600/mt FOB since last week.
 
In the meantime, some unfavorable developments in the certain target markets - such as import taxes in Egypt, low demand levels in the UAE, ongoing sluggishness in European markets, increased supply levels and the search by buyers for lower prices in the general export markets - have negatively influenced Turkish rebar export activities.
 
On the other hand, only the Iraqi market shows some signs of improvement and of interest in Turkish rebar. Accordingly, Turkish market players in the Iskenderun region have been offering rebar to Iraq at $610/mt ex-works, while every month approximately 100,000 mt of rebar have been exported on a regular basis to Iraq according to reports.
