Turkey's rebar exports down 10.3 percent in August

In August this year, Turkey's rebar exports amounted to 563,559 metric tons, decreasing by 10.26 percent year on year and down 3.94 percent from the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $312.78 million, decreasing by 13.25 percent compared to August 2013, and down 4.7 percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first eight months of this year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 5.03 million metric tons, down 5.69 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $2.84 billion, decreasing by 9.26 percent year on year.

In August this year, Turkey's largest rebar export destination was the UAE which received 118,347 metric tons, down 33.73 percent year on year. The UAE was followed by the US with 62,278 metric tons, up 27.18 percent, and Yemen with 56,858 metric tons, up 347.67 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first eight months, the UAE ranked as Turkey's leading rebar export destination, receiving 814,758 metric tons, up 9.61 percent year on year. In the given period, Iraq received 556,763 metric tons of rebar from Turkey, down 43.39 percent year on year.
