According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first 11 months of 2011 motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 774,861 units, rising by 21.4 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In the January-November period of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 504,208 units, rising by 22.9 percent year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 731,990 units, rising by six percent year on year, while its passenger car exports amounted to 406,897 units, rising by two percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue for these export sales reached $16.93 billion for total motor vehicle and component exports, rising by 18 percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $6 billion, rising by six percent, both compared to the first 11 months of 2010.
In the first 11 months of 2011, Turkey's motor vehicle imports increased by 22.7 percent, while its passenger car imports rose by 23 percent year on year, totaling 458,048 units and 349,548 units respectively.
On the other hand, in Turkey the capacity utilization rate in the period in question was 75 percent for the total motor vehicle industry while it was 100 percent for tractors and 76 percent for light vehicles including passenger cars, pick-ups and minibuses.
