According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first six months of the current year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 359,618 units, falling by 19.4 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In June alone, Turkey's motor vehicle sales fell 12.9 percent compared to the same month of 2011, totaling 74,781 units.
In the first six months of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 244,490 units, falling by 15.6 percent year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 393,552 units, falling by 5.7 percent year on year, while its passenger car exports amounted to 221,579 units, falling by 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue for these export sales reached $9.02 billion for total motor vehicle and component exports, falling four percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $3.24 billion, falling by 3.7 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In the first six months of 2012, Turkey's passenger car imports fell by 12.8 percent year on year, totaling 174,496 units. In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle imports totaled 221,026 units, falling by 17 percent year on year.
